Canadian Urdu Poet Munif Ashar’s Works Published as a Web Book Online

(Free-Press-Release.com) April 28, 2009 -- Toronto: Justuju Media, Karachi, Pakistan, in association with Bazme Fanoos, Toronto, Canada, has published the Romantic and Philosophical Urdu poetry works of a renowned Canadian poet, Syed Munif Ashar Maleehabadi, in the form of multi-media Web Books.

Munif Ashar represents the glowing contemporary face of Urdu Ghazal (Ode), which means “talking to beloved / women”, in classical Urdu definition. The Ghazal genre, however, has been transformed over the past 50 years, and it has expanded to cover all issues of life.

Syed Munif Ashar, a Canadian Urdu poet, has been highly praised by Urdu laureats, among others, Mushfiq Khawaja, Professor Afaq Siddiqui, Majid Khalil, Raghib Muradabadi, Mohsin Bhopali, Jazib Qureshi, Professor Saher Ansari, Dr. Farman Fatehpuri, and Syed Hanif Akhgar Maleehabadi.

Canada boasts a deep socio-cultural mix of its population, that includes a large number of Arabs and Asians too. Urdu, along with its variant Hindi, is extensively spoken and understood among Indians, Pakistanis, Afghanis, and many a Bangladeshis. Urdu is written in Arabic script, while Hindi using most of the same vocabulary, is written in DevNagri script.

Munif Ashar has truly transformed the face of contemporary Ghazal in Urdu, and has artistically dealt with musically rhymed verses covering the Romanticism and philosophies of a virtuous life.

ندرت خیال


تجھ کو دیکھا ہی کہاں دنیا نے میری آنکھ سے

ورنہ ہر لب پر یہی ہوتا کہ توُ اچھا لگا


ترے خیال کی دنیا سجا رہا ہوں میں

بس ایک کلی سے گلستاں بنا رہا ہوں میں


یہ حسرت ساتھ ہی جائے گی شاید

محبت بے غرض ملتی کسی سے


تری یادوں کی خوشبو سے کوئی منظر بنالوں گا

غزل کہدوں گا اور تیرا حسیں پیکربنالوں گا


تیری تصویر میں تھوڑی سی کمی باقی ہے

تو بتا رنگِ وفا اس میں بھروں یا نہ بھروں


برائے نعتِ نبی حرف مل ہی جاتے تمام

قلم بھی کاش مرے ساتھ باوضو ہوتا


عطا ہوا ہے کچھ ایسا مجھے شعورِ سُخن

کہ مجھ سے ہوگئی منسوب رہگُزارِ غزل
