It's an exciting time for everyone when a new puppy arrives in the house. Of course , the moment the puppy arrives you should start to immediately prepare for training your new member of the family. The process of training, however, can be quite a challenging ordeal as the actual process can be both time consuming and repetitious. House training in particular will require constant attention and a positive attitude. Nevertheless, whether you're focusing on crate training, house training, or studying all the many forms of training available, the overall process of dog training are a lot easier than you think.

The New Arrival

When your puppy first arrives at your home don't be afraid to set it down so that it can run around and get familiar with its new surroundings. The excitement of being taken by car, shuttled through town, played with, and stroked by unfamiliar people is an unbelievable experience for most dogs, so the moment you arrive your dog will be more excited than usual and will need to alleviate it's self. This will mark the beginning of your dog's toilet training. You will need to orchestrate your dog's first toilet break so that it happens outside , instead of inside your home, by doing this simple gesture your dog will realize what it should do on all consecutive occurrences.

Beginning your dog's toilet training when you have both arrived at home is key to a successful pet and owner relationship.

Step 1. Guide your dog to its new designated toilet area, and place your pet gently on the grass.

Step 2. Let your dog sniff the surrounding area and get familiar with its surroundings. Try to refrain from playing or petting your dog, be stern but gentle you don't want your dog to associate it's area with games as it has to learn that this part of the yard is only for toilet breaks.

Step 3. When your dog begins to relieve its self, say the phrase you want your dog to associate with toilet breaks: "potty time" or "Go pee"

you have the choice of creating your own phrase for this action.

Step 4. If none of your phrases work and your dog still begins to relieve its self in the wrong location, straighten your posture with dog collar in hand and guide your dog sternly to its area, and then repeat the words you've chosen in step 1 to your dog.
