Gluu launches IDaaS Federation Service, Helping Organizations Form Online Communities

May 4, 2009

Gluu, an Identity as a Service platform, helps organizations control access to their Extranet, federate using SAML, publish yellow pages information, and share identity information with their partners

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 4, 2009 -- (Munich, Germany) At OpenSSO Community Day 2.0, an event hosted by the European Identity Conference, Gluu announced the initial launch of its new website: http://www.gluu.org, a networking tool for building communities of businesses and organizations. “Where popular social networking applications bring individuals together, Gluu connects organizations and the people in them,” explained Michael Schwartz, CEO and founder of Gluu. “Gluu offers organizations a new way to communicate with each other as well as exchange data and information safely.”

Upon joining the Gluu network, member organizations have the option to invite other organizations and create communities. These communities can be used by organizations to control access to their web sites, to publish yellow pages information, and to share identity data within the community.

“Access control has always been an issue when organizations partner or allow extranet access to their systems,” continued Schwartz. “Changes in business relationships and organizational personnel emphasize the importance of identity management and current authorization of individuals in the community.” By enabling each community organization to synchronize its internal personnel and to publish information about individual’s roles within the organization, the Gluu portal improves privacy and security of data and communications.”

“Sharing identity information between organizations, which is the foundation of any authentication and authorization technology, has been one of the main impediments to building online, inter-organization communities. Gluu offers a variety of integration methods: small companies can use the web based delegated administration functionality; larger organizations can use the Gluu Virtual Appliance, a software tool that speeds the process of data sharing by creating a virtual map for each organization’s internal data structures.”

Membership in Gluu is free. For more information or to register with Gluu, visit http://www.gluu.org
