HELENE MUKHTAR SHOWS “BLAST” AND “ALPHABET” AT FIVE FRONT ART SPACE AND RESTAURANT IN DUMBO

(Free-Press-Release.com) May 5, 2009 -- The group exhibition organized under the auspices of the Brooklyn Art Project will open May 7th at 5.30 pm to coincide with the Dumbo First Thursday Gallery Crawl.

Helene Mukhtar’s work deals with current issues. She looks for inspiration in the urban landscape. Her photographs of architecture and graffiti shot in New York, Paris and Berlin become the starting point of her creative exploration.

Printed on paper and collaged onto the canvas, the photographs are integrated into a painting overlaid with acrylic paint. With “Blast” and “Alphabet”, Mukhtar is adding a complex layer of drawings to her compelling mixed media imagery.

Helene Mukhtar received her MFA from Florida State University. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and France. Recent exhibitions include Agora Gallery, Icosahedron Gallery, Art Gotham and 440 Gallery in New York City and Galerie ArtSud in France.
