$1.5 Million Savings on Shutdowns and Turnarounds Possible with Small Changes
World’s top shutdowns expert John McLay tours globe to show companies how to reduce shutdown and turnaround costs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 6, 2009 --
Oil and gas companies and outfits in other process industries can save $1.5 million from a few simple measures to speed up their next shutdown, according to top shutdowns expert John McLay, founding chairman of North America’s Shutdowns Superconference and author of international shutdowns manual Practical Management for Plant Turnarounds. John is will be holding hands-on interactive workshops in the world’s top industrial centers to show companies how to do this, beginning with Calgary (Alberta, Canada) from June 2-4 and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from July 6-8.
One way to reduce shutdown costs by up to $1.5 Million is simply to plan and execute the shutdown effectively to reduce turnaround time by 1.5 days. This finding comes from John’s 38 years of relevant experience in heavy industry, including personal experience in each different area of responsibility in shutdowns. Small changes that make each shutdown more efficient can yield such dramatic results that companies cannot afford to ignore improving their shutdowns, especially now that savings are more crucial than ever.
Shutdowns and turnarounds are necessary, but when costs and schedules balloon out of control, the consequences are catastrophically costly both for the company and for the shutdown coordinator. In these tough times, managers, engineers, planners and coordinators are on their toes trying to keep their jobs and maintain pay rates. Cutbacks are happening everywhere and the no industry has been able to escape the slowdown.
