PERFORMERS AND ARTISTS FROM THE ISLAND OF OAHU CONTRIBUTE TO “PEACE INTERNATIONALLY”

On May 21st, artists and performers from Oahu and beyond will come together to share their talents and messages of peace at home and with Israeli-Jewish, Israeli-Arab and Palestinian children, who are playing basketball for peace. Letting the “Spirit of Aloha” guide them, Colin Fong, the Mozo Band, Aunty Thelma Kamae (a well known and loved local Kapuna, musician and vocalist), and several other artists will express the “Aloha way of being” through their performances. Various traditional and multi-cultural acts include Kahiko Hawaiian dancers, Native American Hoop Dancers, and Chinese Lion Dancers among others.

The concert will celebrate the theme of “Peace Internationally,” and include the work of Fawwaz Jubran, a Palestinian-born musician who’s lived in Hawaii for almost 30 years, and Elad Vazana, a celebrated Israeli peacebuilder and speaker. Proceeds will benefit the children of PeacePlayers International – Middle East, a nonprofit organization that seeks to unite and educate children in Israel and the West Bank through basketball. The concert will be simultaneously broadcast over the Internet so that the children themselves, and peacebuilders all over the world, can share in the musicians’ performances and message.

Colin Fong, the Hawaii Stunt Association Vice President stated, “This concert raises awareness of the peace efforts being made in the Middle East by our own people from the islands. PeacePlayers International has a wonderfully successful program focusing on the next generation of youth, Palestinian and Israeli, through the game of basketball. What I see is those that play together stay together. It’s incredible to think that from here, in Oahu, we can have an effect on making a better world.”

The benefit concert, an @rtimos Production, is May 21st, at 6 p.m.at the Central Union Church: PARISH HALL, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tickets are: $20.00 for the general public, 15.00 for students, and $10.00 for children ages 3-15 years old. Seating is limited and tickets will not be available at the door.
