New York Based Dating Company Proves That Even During Tough Times, There’s One Thing That Never Loses Value: Companionship

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 7, 2009 -- NEW YORK, NY -- While the global economy struggles, there’s a surprising boom going on in New York these days in the business of dating. Why? Because there’s one thing that never loses value, and that’s companionship. One especially unique social networking group for singles, Save The Date(ing), is experiencing a dramatic upswing in the midst of the fallout.

Save The Date(ing) has created its own niche in the overcrowded dating industry. Hattie Elliot, founder and creator, organizes pre-vetted events for singles, “One reason our events have been so successful is because people know that all attendees have been personally vouched for since our membership has grown organically through friends and personal referrals.” The obvious advantage to this back to basics approach (everyone knows that the best way to meet someone is through a friend), is that it puts everyone at ease and ready to enjoy mingling while learning something fun and new in the process.

The other reason for Save The Date(ing)’s success is members attend some of the most original singles events in the city. Save the Date(ing) kicked off in November by putting the sexy back in ceramics, à la “Ghost,” with an event at Chambers Pottery in Tribeca. Other events have included Pizza 101, at Il Piccolo Bufalo in Little Italy, where members learned the basics of creating the perfect pie and Wine 101, where wine expert extraordinaire, Annie Edgerton, instructed members how to taste, purchase and order the perfect bottle of wine, while consuming a few of those bottles along the way!

Each event has a uniform ratio of men to women, evening the playing field. Hattie designs all her happenings to bring together a crowd that embodies the diversity and dynamism that New York City has to offer. As the group’s membership has grown beyond Elliot’s immediate circle, she screens all perspective members by meeting with them personally to see if they would be a good fit for the group. New members pay a $250 quarterly membership fee in addition to an a la carte fee for each event they attend.

This spring, Save the Date(ing) members can look forward to some festive events including a Single Malts tasting and education and tasting event, Bocce Ball Tournament, Sailing lessons, an Etiquette dinner, trapeze classes, and a Build Your Own Kid Robot Party.

Elliot says, “As a single New Yorker, I started Save the Date(ing) because if anything the bleak economic times made me reevaluate the things in life that have true meaning and consequence, and regardless of the economy, one of the most important is companionship. Save the Date(ing) is a vehicle to help individuals find just that and have a phenomenal time in the process. I am elated at the company’s success in that regard and look forward to continuing to help people connect!”
