Santa Rosa, CA, April 5, 2009 – The City of Santa Rosa’s Redevelopment Agency, in cooperation with the Arts District … Downtown Santa Rosa, the Historic Railroad Square Association and the Arts Council of Sonoma County, announces Summer 2009 First Friday on 4th program.
“Look for a new format this year” says event producer, Ty Jones of New Arts Project & the Hand-Car Regatta. “We are working closely with downtown business to showcase the food and music that is already taking place, while bringing in a changing line up of local artists and crafters that will be located in Courthouse & Railroad Squares, as well as in select local merchants.”
Beginning on May 1st, and continuing on June 5th, July 3rd, August 7th, and ending on September 4th, First Fridays turns into a leisurely stroll through downtown. From 4 PM to 8 PM, each First Friday evening, visitors will find musical groups such as the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra playing in Courthouse Square or be able to walk through crafter booths located near Depot Park on Wilson and 4th Streets.
This year brings a centralized location on 4th street running from E Street in the east, to Railroad Square in the west, with additional locations at ArtSpace 404 and the Phantom Gallery on Mendocino Avenue and the Sonoma County Museum on 7th Street.
Visitors will be able to take in a rotating format of local painting, sculpture, pottery, and jewelry or have an early dinner, or a late night nosh, at one of the over 20 participating restaurants. Additionally, many participating merchants are having special events and presentations, check the event brochure and website, www.firstfridaysonfourth.com, for more information.
