The success of the Rice Planters Amateur includes a variety of sponsorship efforts and donations from the surrounding Charleston community, along with Back 9 USA as one of its biggest sponsors. For the past two years, Back 9 USA has generously donated a selection of goods to players competing in the tournament as well as providing clothing for the Tournament Players Committee.

“Teaming up with the Rice Planters Amateur has always been an easy decision. It’s one of the best amateur events out there; tons of guys who are now on the PGA Tour have played in this event,” said Andy Hydorn, president and co-founder of Back 9 USA. “We’re proud to be a part of it because we want to support competitive levels of amateur golf. We’ve even partnered up with former players Josh Younger (AUS) and Matthew Galloway (USA) as they work towards getting their Tour cards.”

This year, Back 9 USA has stepped up to offer their patented TOURevolution™ pom-pom headcover for participants in the Snee-Am, a sponsor/Rice Planter participant golf tournament that kicks off the week. The custom designed driver headcover features the Rice Planters logo and yarn pom-pom like old school knit headcovers. Additionally, players in the 2009 Rice Planters will receive Back 9 USA hats when registering for the event prior to round 1 and the Tournament Players Committee will be wearing Back 9 USA performance polos all week.

“We are excited to continue this relationship with Back 9 USA. Our players rave about the hats and shirts Back 9 USA has provided them at registration. The Rice Planters Amateur is successful because of generous sponsors like Back 9 USA and would not be a preeminent event in the Southeast without such support,” said Bruce Fleming, Tournament Director.

The 37th Rice Planters Amateur Golf Championship will be held at Snee Farm Country Club in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, June 23 - 27, 2009. The entry fee of $250 (payable to Snee Farm Country Club) and the completed application are due by May 15, 2009 as the tournament is limited to a field of 90 players. The field will be posted shortly thereafter on the Rice Planters’ website: www.sneefarmcc.com/rpa
