Kids win Webisode Cooking Contest!

Los Angeles, CA - (May 12, 2009) - Jr. Chefs of America is pleased to announce that Audrey Whitby and Boo Spence, from Los Angeles have won the first annual webisode contest and have been named Master Jr. Chefs. The girls won with their Cookin’ it Up Cookie Cupcakes recipe and they will be features in an upcoming webisode. They entered the contest at the open casting call which was held at Sur La Table. The runner’s up are as follows:
2nd place Daniel Palmieri, from Los Angeles - Pasta Al Pesto
Runner Up: Christopher Knight, age 10, from Stevenson Ranch - Sesame Seed Beef on Bamboo Skewers
Runner Up: Noah Museles, age 14, from Santa Monica - Asian Turkey Burger Sliders
Runner Up: Mila Feldman, age 14, from San Francisco - Basil Pesto
13 year-old Audrey Whitby and 12 year-old Boo Spence are both from Los Angeles and are homeschooled. Audrey says she likes to cook because she likes to eat and started cooking about two years ago in Girl Scouts. Boo started cooking while watching her older brother who is now a sous chef. She likes to cook to make new inventions.
The contestants were judged on food presentation, knowledge of recipe, knowledge of technique, personality, quality of video, overall Jr Chef presence by judges Fabio Viviani – Fan favorite - Bravo’s Top Chef, Bethenny Frankel – Author of Naturally Thin, chef and star of The Real Housewives of New York City, Melissa Campbell – Reality TV agent – The Gersh Agency, Stephanie Hullar, current Jr. Chef of America and Raquel Gardner – TV Host.
“Audrey and Boo showed a true love for cooking and a very creative recipe,” says Michelle Green, the website’s creator. “All of our contestants were wonderful. I was so happy to see some many talented kids interested in cooking!”
Jr. Chefs of America is here to inspire a new generation of smart eaters and build parents’ confidence about their children’s’ skills in the kitchen. Featuring original webisodes, this new website is all about kids teaching kids the joy of cooking.
Jr. Chefs of America realizes that the earlier a child can learn the importance of good nutrition and portion control, the more eager and knowledgeable they will be regarding eating healthy.
In the site’s original webisodes, kids are teaching their young audiences about kitchen safety, cooking healthy and responsible meal possibilities.
