Amedica Corporation and Syndicom, Inc. Launch Surgeon Education Collaboration Using SpineConnectTM
Syndicom Web 2.0 solution allows case collaboration on ValeoTM Ceramic Spinal Implant System
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 1, 2009 --
Syndicom, the creator of the Web 2.0 case collaboration platforms, SpineConnect.com and ArthoplastyConnect.com, announced a strategic partnership with Amedica Corp., - an orthopedic implants company focused on silicon nitride ceramic technologies. The alliance aims to implement a surgeon-to-surgeon online collaboration strategy for its surgeons to efficiently expedite their understanding of, and case discussions about the ValeoTM Ceramic Spinal Implant System, incorporating CSC (cancellous-structured ceramic) technology. The CSC technology, made using Amedica’s novel silicon nitride ceramic, offers a porous cancellous trabecular structure designed to promote bony fusion.
Syndicom presented Amedica with a web-based solution that allows surgeons to collaborate on the ValeoTM Ceramic Spinal Implant System in a secure environment that promotes knowledge share and communication. “Amedica’s core value lies in their new material technology,” said Walker Thompson, Syndicom VP of Sales and Marketing. “Exposing this technology requires engaging in the surgeon conversation. Based upon Amedica’s need, it was clear that to accomplish this we had to launch a service that engages surgeons as they search for treatment options inside of SpineConnect.com. What’s more, through our account management programs, we are finding new ways to help Amedica develop stronger relationships with surgeons and their brand.”
Syndicom’s platform utilizes Collaborative Knowledge Networks (CKNs) to allow communities of surgeons to interact virtually on complex cases while simultaneously supporting rapid, bi-directional information sharing. Based on a recent survey conducted on the SpineConnectTM community, 90% of active users agree that the ability to collaborate with their peers, using a dedicated website, has improved their ability to practice spinal surgery resulting in improved patient care.
“Amedica is very excited about the potential for this novel material,” said Ashok C. Khandkar, PhD, the company’s President and CEO. “Silicon nitride is a proven ultra-strong, biocompatible, radiolucent material which has already established a successful track record in spinal implants. Our partnership with Syndicom will help Amedica highlight the value of silicon nitride to the 1500-strong SpineConnect.com member base. In other words, for those surgeons looking for treatment options, they can now learn more from the inside of SpineConnect.com.”
