TASMAC’s knowledge forum exchanges a few words on “Leadership Matters”

Pune : TASMAC - School of Business with its constant zeal to create skillful leaders organized an intellectual Knowledge Exchange Forum on the topic “Leadership Matters” on 27 May 2009 at Hotel Le Royce. This interactive forum presented facts about the leadership qualities required for a person to become a successful leader. The panel encompassed industry honchos like Padmashri Mrs. Lila Poonawalla , Dr. Arun Bhatt – President – Clininvent Research –Mumbai and Mr. Abhay Vaidya – Resident Editor – DNA – Pune
“Tasmac is proud to organize such knowledge exchange forums for the students. These forums facilitate the students in comprehending the importance of various segments for a successful career. It gives them a thought provoking experience and helps build their knowledge” stating this, Mr. Sameer Dua, Joint Managing director, TASMAC initiated the session.
Also present at the forum, Dr. Giri Dua, Chairman & Managing Director, TASMAC, said that TASMAC is the pioneer & leader in providing British higher education and always strives to produce efficient leaders. Throwing light upon the importance of an able leader who could steer head an organization towards greater success, Dr. Dua said, “It’s the leadership quality in a person that helps guide a team to achieve the set goals in turn helping the growth of a company”
Leadership is a salient aspect of successful organizations. Defining leadership is challenging and developing effective leadership is a huge task. Talking on these lines Padmashri Mrs. Lila Poonawala said, “Leadership is imbibed in an individual. There is nothing like born leaders, but born learners. If he or she has the zeal to learn and think innovatively then nobody can stop them from being leaders.” When asked about her experience as a lady leader, Mrs. Lila Poonawala said that she had not come across any discrimination but there had been instances when the same had worked in her favor.”
Taking the discussion further, Mr. Sameer requested Dr. Arun Bhatt – President – Clininvent Research – Mumbai to share his insights on what he thought about “leadership”. Mr. Bhatt said, “An effective Leadership is very important in any given organization. In Managing a team or leading the team to success one needs to follow some traits like trusting the subordinate, the team, colleagues and then judging their capabilities.
Taking forward the discussion, Mr. Abhay Vaidya – Resident Editor – DNA – Pune mentioned that leadership in all has certain traits namely passion, result orientation, state of flow (terminology in psychology) and willingness to take risk and keep learning. He further said that one needs to discover their potential and area of interest to emerge as successful leaders.
The Programme ended with a small film on leadership which was appreciated by the corporate guests. The panelists also spared their precious time to interact with the students which was an enlightening experience for them.
