Arkansas BPW Presents Volunteerism Award to Evins
Janie Evins of Hot Springs, Arkansas was recently named the 2009 winner of the Arkansas Business and Professional Women's WOMEN MEAN BUSINESS Award for Volunteerism.

The Arkansas Business and Professional Women presented the 2009 Women Mean Business Volunteerism award to Janie Evins of Hot Springs, Arkansas for her civic and community accomplishments. Evins is an attorney in private practice with an emphasis on personal injury, domestic relations and civil litigation. She is licensed to practice in state and federal courts and has seventeen years of litigation experience. She is a former humanities instructor at Garland County Community College, now National Park Community College. Evins received her Bachelor of Science at West Texas State University, Master of Education at Henderson State University, and Juris Doctorate at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law. She is a former member of the House of Delegates of the Arkansas Bar Association and a member of the Garland County Bar Association. She is a frequent lecturer on women’s legal issues and estate planning for women.
Evins is author of When It’s Peace You Need (2009), Your Personal Guide to Estate Planning (2009), Grassroots Lobbying: The Path to Change (2006), and has written a number of articles including “Arkansas Women: Their Contribution to Society, Politics and Business, 1865-1900” printed in the Arkansas Historical Quarterly, and “Maximizing the Effectiveness of Mediation,” printed in the Family Jewel, a journal of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association. She is a skillful fundraiser and has organized numerous events and activities in the community, including golf tournaments, seminars, gala events and other fundraisers such as pancake breakfasts. Evins has extensive leadership experience and has served as president of the Garland County Historical Society, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce, the Leadership Hot Springs Board of Directors, the Quapaw Community Center Board of Directors, the National Park Medical Center Family Advisory Board, her church council, and the Magnet Cove Athletic Booster Club.
Evins has received a number of awards including the Women’s Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year, 1995 and 2007; a Reader’s Choice Award as Outstanding Local Attorney; Henderson State University Distinguished Alumni Nominee; J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award for Community Volunteerism; Outstanding Woman in the Legal Profession, Arkansas Business and Professional Women for 2001 and 2007, Woman of the Year for Spa Area Business and Professional Women, 2007, and the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year award.
Evins’ mission is to challenge women to discover and embrace their dreams and to live with confidence and courage. Through workshops, videos and publications, the Inspiring Women Foundation, which Evins co-founded with four other business leaders, encourages women to develop their inner gifts of peace and balance. Evins has also performed numerous pro bono cases for indigent women who are unable to otherwise afford legal assistance.
