Deshea Townsend’s Pay It Forward Foundation Health Fair, Football Camp - Pittsburgh

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 4, 2009 -- Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back, Deshea Townsend and his Pay it Forward Foundation will host a fundamental football skills clinic coupled with a leadership academy, open to youth in the 2nd through 12th grades. The Pay It Forward Community Health Fair will run in conjunction with the camp. Local healthcare providers will be on site distributing information on several widespread health issues. Free screenings for select medical conditions will be given on-site to attendees. The health fair is FREE and open to the public of all ages.

Townsend, along with several of his Steelers’ teammates will personally facilitate several areas of the football camp. More than just a standard skills clinic, the camp’s objective is to provide a safe environment while promoting good sportsmanship, academic success, and leadership skills. Pittsburgh Camp Info and forms:

This is the first running of the Pay It Forward Day Camp, a fundamental football skills clinic coupled with a leadership academy, open to youth in the 2nd through 12th grades (girls are strongly encouraged to attend).

The camp will be held from 9 am – 2 pm and lunch and beverages will be provided to participants. Each participant will also receive a free t-shirt. The foundation is also hosting a FREE community health fair to coincide with the camp that will be held on the premises. The football camp and health fair are being sponsored by the Heinz Foundation, PhRMA, Abbott, Smart Water and Vitamin Water 10.

More than just a standard skills clinic, the day camp’s objective is to provide a safe environment while promoting good sportsmanship, academic success, and leadership skills. The camp will have breakout sessions with age appropriate athletic drills focusing on conditioning and technique. One hundred youth from the greater Pittsburgh area Boys and Girls clubs and local high school football programs have been pre-selected to attend the camp. There are 100 additional slots open at $50 per youth. Parents interested in registering the children for the camp will need to request a camp application at pittcamp@gmail.com by Friday, May 22nd.
