FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 5, 2009 -- Hewlett Packard - the market leader in Imaging and Printing - in association with KRAB Media & Marketing and Landmark Bookstore today launched a coffee table book, aptly titled ‘Dream Safari’ - a fine pictorial depiction of east African Wildlife and Culture, by renowned wildlife photographer Diinesh Kumble.

One of the most insightful coffee-table books on Kenya and Tanzania, the book was launched at Landmark, Bangalore by photography enthusiast and Diinesh’s brother Anil Kumble, ace Indian cricketer, keen wildlife and nature conservation enthusiast, Puneet Chadha (Director – Graphic Solutions Business, HP Imaging & Printing Group) and Natasha Shekar (Landmark).

The book covers the national parks of eastern Africa with detailed textual descriptions, maps, references and useful tips. Diinesh’s passion for wildlife put forth just one option for the publisher- to print the book on 100% recycled paper and use the HP Indigo Digital Press. This technology cuts down energy consumption and paper wastage while making it economically feasible for publishers to offer on-demand printing for numbers as low as just one book. For the reader, this means that his favorite books will now never be out of print.

HP’s digital printing expertise ensured that the moods, color, texture and light have been replicated exactly from Diinesh’s lens on to the paper of his new Coffee Table book “DREAM SAFARI – A Pictorial Journey through Africa’s Cradle of Life”.

Dream Safari (Published by KRAB Media & Marketing, Bangalore ISBN 978-81-908421-0-5, Price: Rs. 2,250/=)is available across all Landmark and other book stores all over the country apart from being sold online at www.wildlifebeat.com.

Speaking on the launch Diinesh Kumble said, “The wildlife in Kenya and Tanzania, which I have been lucky to experience, are so seeped in primeval starkness that there is no crooked way of looking at it. What one witnesses, hears or feels is what it is. Photography, on the other hand is a gift from mankind. Not only was I witness to something profound, but thanks to my camera and lenses I could take back some moments as memories with me. I found the need to express and share my experiences and the excitement I felt along the journey, the culmination of this effort is portrayed in the book ”.

Putting forth his thoughts on the book, Anil Kumble said, “Dream Safari is definitely one of the best piece of pictorial art on the settings of an African sojourn capturing most exciting moments of instinctive wildlife, mysterious lifestyles of the tribals and unexplored landscapes”. “Diinesh’s photographic excellence has been equally complemented with HP’s technological expertise – it’s marvelous to see the frozen moments come to life with such unflinching accuracy,” he added.

The books-on-demand market is expected to grow exponentially, chiefly due to the increasing demand for small-volume, rare and self-published books. HP is embarking on a new level of high-end photobook production with HP Indigo that enables high-definition digital printing in resolutions up to 1,200 dots per inch in up to seven colors, and an evolution in the book print ecosystem where personalized short-run prints can be delivered on-demand, linked to a customized web-to-print workflow.

“The ability to produce books on demand is another result of the transformation from analog to digital printing, and with our line of HP Indigo presses, we are at the forefront of this trend. Our collaboration with Diinesh and Landmark is a natural next step in HP’s strategy to move higher volumes of printing from analog to digital,” said Puneet Chadha, Director – Graphics Solutions Business, HP Imaging & Printing Group.

HP provides the industry’s only high-end digital presses that use liquid ink for high-quality images that rival the offset print technology traditionally used in the book publishing world. Other print-on-demand applications produced on HP Indigo presses include everything from personalized marketing collateral to high-quality photo books.

HP Indigo Large Format Printing

Marketers, publishers, consumer product companies and consumers are increasingly using digital print technology to produce everything from marketing collateral and direct mail to photo merchandise and books and manuals. Digital print technology, like that found in HP Indigo presses, offers great value and convenience with its ability to print in small runs while also providing offset-quality imaging.

HP Indigo presses are widely used in the production of personalized direct mail and marketing communications materials. According to an InfoTrends survey, marketing collateral and direct mail are the top two segments for high-volume digital color printing, collectively accounting for 44 percent of high-volume digital color press pages.

The rise of digital printing in key industries such as photo, publishing and labels has contributed to the growth of HP Indigo press installations and impressions.

Emerging high-growth niche areas for HP Indigo include:

· Books-on-demand: HP Indigo presses cost-effectively produce full-color and mixed monochrome/color texts on demand, eliminating the minimum run lengths required for offset printing. Customers such as Amazon, which installed multiple HP Indigo presses in 2006, are using digital to increase the number of available titles, including texts that were previously not available on demand.

· Photo merchandise products such as personal calendars, cards and photobooks: HP Indigo is among the leading brands in digital presses used to produce photo merchandise products and the only one capable of producing images in up to seven colors for more life-like, silver-halide-quality images.

· Labels and packaging: HP Indigo industrial-model presses are used to print high-quality packaging and labels. In the past five years, the volume of labels printed with HP Indigo presses has increased by 500 percent.
