15 new and expecting military moms honored by OSOA and the Huntington Beach Elks Lodge

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 5, 2009 -- On Saturday, May 23rd, 2009, 15 new and expecting military moms from the Southern California area were honored and showered with gifts during the Operation Showers of Appreciation Annual Spring Shower. The shower was co-hosted with the Huntington Beach Elk’s Lodge and honored the 15 new moms with gifts from cribs to diapers and wipes.

“On behalf of Operation Showers of Appreciation I’d like to say Thank you to all of our military families, their family and friends, all of our volunteers, and the companies and individuals that came out and honored these families with us during the shower. Without them our shower would not have been such a success”.” Said, Kimberly Felshaw, President and Founder of Operation Showers of Appreciation who was present at the shower.

Each mom received various gifts based on their needs and were provided gifts from Babies R Us, Enfamil, bears from Herrington Bears, and embroidered bibs from Embroider Me. All other gifts were donated or purchased with donations from various groups and organizations. This shower was a huge success because of the overwhelming support given in honor of these very deserving families.

During the shower the military families were invited to play games, open their gifts, and were provided lunch by various local businesses. Some of the games included; Dirty Diaper Game, Guess What Baby Food is in the Jar, and Daddy Speed Diapering (only for our expecting Dads that could attend). The winner of the speed diapering contest won a leather tool belt filled with goggles, rubber gloves, tongs, mask, diaper, butt paste, and a rattle. Everything a new Dad will need to change that “first diaper”.
