Made-in-India, the new age mantra

In the agriculture sector, the tea exports during January-December 2008 touched 196 million kg, Soybean had touched an all time high of 12 million tonnes, coffee exports rose to 3,00,000 bags, rubber exports increased to 23,998 tonnes, Spice exports registered a 17 % increase, oil meal exports stood at 1.40 million tones, Cashew exports touched US $ 413.21 million.

In the automobile sector the passenger car exports went up to 2, 71,999 units against 1, 66,859 units in the corresponding period in the previous year. India exported Gems and jewellery worth US$ 17.79 billion was exported during April 2008 to February 2009.

In the healthcare sector, India is promoting its medical facilities through medical tourism. The major advantages of Indian medical tourism industry are its cost effectiveness and its combination with the attractions of tourism. Also, the treatment cost is lowest in India, as compared to US, Singapore, Thailand and South Africa.

In addition, India is also trying to promote its traditional medicine such as ayurveda.

Indian information Technology sector has played a principal role in putting India on the global radar. The government estimates that exports turnover will touch US$ 80 billion by 2011, growing at an annual rate of 30 per cent per annum.

In apparel and textile trade, Ministry of Textiles, India exported textiles worth US$ 15.27 billion during April-December 2008. Indian textiles, handlooms and handicrafts are exported to more than 100 countries. Americans are the largest buyers.

In steel industry, India’s total annual iron ore production is more than 200 MT, of which 50 per cent is exported.

As far as telecommunication sector is concerned, Indian telecommunications industry is the fastest in the world. And after registering a high-growth trajectory in the local markets, Indian telecommunication companies are intending to spread their wings globally.

So the world is highly banking on products Made In India, for its various quality products that are being sold at cost-effective prices. What we have mentioned here just a drop in the ocean.
