Why Ignoring An Angry Blogger Is A Big Mistake

Sick of being ignored by a removal company that lost and damaged his families possessions this man turned to blogging to get the company responsible to take notice.

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 12, 2009 -- Vernon / BC, Canada (Free-Press-Release.com) June 12, 2009 -- The O'Connor family, who recently emigrated from the UK to Canada, were horrified when their family possessions were delivered to them.

Not only did they receive another customer's possessions mixed in with their own, but boxes of their possessions were missing, and damage had been caused to other personal items.

Chris O'Connor said "We only insured the high value items because we trusted the removal company". However, a lot of what was missing or damaged was uninsured. His attempts at getting the removal company to discuss the uninsured losses were ignored. Frustrated with the situation O'Connor created a blog to document his family's situation in the hope that it might get the removal company to finally respond to the questions he had been asking them.

Despite it taking up a considerable amount of his time and effort he kept up his blogging on a daily basis and was able to show the world photographic and video evidence of the damage that had been caused to his family's possessions.

After a few weeks of daily blogging he did finally get a response out of the company to his questions and is now awaiting an inspection from an insurance company regarding the uninsured losses and damages.

O'Connor says “It is disheartening that someone should have to go to these lengths just to get a company to respond to questions that I have been asking them for weeks. And it is bad that I have had to do all of this just to get them to honour their contractual obligations.”

He went on to say “Several years ago someone in our position would have had little recourse if the company they were having problems with was in another country and ignoring them. Now with the global reach of the internet combined with the ease and power of blogging, simply ignoring customers is a big mistake. The ordinary person can now make themselves heard, take things into their own hands and fight back”.
