Oklahoma City Salon Hair Stylist Designated Master Stylist

June 18, 2009

Anastasia of Oklahoma City, a well-known Oklahoma City hair stylist was recently raised to the rank of Master Hair Designer (MHD).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 18, 2009 -- This is a prestigious designation and comes with experience, time dedicated, and prior success as a Stylist and then a Hair Designer. We interviewed Anastasia about the designation, and about hair styling in general.

Are things better in any way, now that you’re a Master Hair Designer?

“Actually, in some ways, being a Master Hair Designer can be a burden, because your prices go up by a couple of dollars, but that’s just enough more that people will sometimes price shop elsewhere. I try to add value in ways other salons and stylists can’t, because of their time constraints. Each of my clients gets extra attention and meticulous care. But if they do go elsewhere, frankly, a lot of them come back. A certain percentage of my business actually comes from repairing damaged hair from other salons. Without them, I wouldn’t have as much work. I suppose, though, being an MHD is an honor.”

Are your prices a lot higher, then?

“No. A couple of dollars higher than a regular Hair Designer. You could say it’s actually less, given the value added, and the sense of detail for the rest. It’s worth two bucks.”

Do you specialize in any one type of hair?

“Not to the exclusion of any other, but there are some things that are not easy to find someone doing well. Extensions, treatments, Asian hair…”

What’s different about Asian hair?

“The cheek structure is often different, and you have to have special training to really do it properly. I have a lot of Asian clients, because it’s so easy for someone without that training to mess up their hair.”

One of your colleagues said about you that you spend extra time on shampooing, you pay razor sharp attention to detail, and you talk to your clients about things like when they need deep conditioning to repair sun damage, etc. They seem fairly complimentary of you.

“Well, they’re right, I do all of those things. But that’s what I mean about adding value. It’s really about paying attention, listening, observing, and giving expert feedback If you do that, people do notice. I think that’s what being a Master Hair Designer is all about.”

Thank you, and congratulations Anastasia, on your success.
