Great Grabz is Donating 2,500 Grab Bars Across the Country to Those in Need

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 18, 2009 -- Great Grabz, has launched their Great Grabz Gives campaign where they are donating 2,500 decorative grab bars to organizations across the US and Canada who are working within their community doing home modifications for those in need.

“There are many non-profit organizations who are really hurting due to the current economy. We wanted to do our part to make homes safer for those in need,” says Great Grabz President, Abbie Sladick.

One of the recipients of Great Grabz Gives is Yachad, located in Washing DC. They are a nonprofit housing and community development program housing whose work involves repairing and renovating homes owned by lower income homeowners, many whom are elderly or disabled. They rely heavily on donations of materials in order to accomplish as much work as possible at the lowest cost.

“The Great Grabz Gives campaign is a perfect match for one of our upcoming projects. This fall, we’re sending more than 50 volunteers to help renovate a 30-unit apartment building—something new for us--which will provide critically needed housing for people with chronic health issues such as HIV/AIDs. The grab bars will be installed in all the new bathrooms at a huge savings for the nonprofit sponsor that we are teaming up with. Thanks to this donation the new occupants will be able to safely and independently use their washroom facilities,” says Executive Director, Audrey Lyon


Champlain Housing Trust, a non-profit, development, homeownership, and property management company located in Burlington, Vermont requested grab bars to replace their existing, grab bars with the more durable ones.

“Because of the aesthetic quality of these grab bars we will also be able to use them in our older housing stock, in an effort to spruce up these aging buildings. Some of these cash strapped properties that we manage under normal circumstances would not be able to afford such high quality grab bars and we are incredibly grateful that Great Grabz has provided us this opportunity to improve our housing stock without breaking the bank,” says Patrick M. Dattilio, Associate Director of Maintenance.

Great Grabz has already donated over 500 grab bars and they have more to give. Recipients must be a not-for-profit company who is licensed and insured to install grab bars.
