Luxury in Palm Beach
When most people think of a luxury holiday in southern Florida, Palm Beach County hotel resorts spring to mind: The Breakers, The Ritz Carlton or The Colony.
And while it's true these hotels are known for refined accommodation, they also offer a dizzying range of additional services for a price, such as spa treatments, private cabanas on a private beach, attentive concierge service and a choice of onsite restaurants and lounges.
Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://www.casagrandview.com But if your idea of luxury includes space defined in square footage, then the price of your luxury Florida holiday can zoom from a standard 250 sq. ft. Superior Room at the Breakers at $389 (winter season) to $3,320. for their 1,250 sq. ft. 1-bedroom Royal Poinciana Suite.
If that seems a bit too rich for your budget especially in the current global economy, a different - and surprisingly affordable - luxury alternative can be found just across the bridge from Palm Beach proper, in a quaint historic district in downtown West Palm Beach called Grandview Heights.
Casa Grandview offers lovingly restored, historic bungalow cottages and five spacious art-deco suites with a range of high-season prices (Dec.2-Apr.27) from $200 for a 530 sq. ft suite with 1-bedroom, separate living room, a fully equipped kitchen and large walk-in closet to $325./night for their Bahamas Breeze, a charming 1,300 sq. ft. 2+ bedroom detached historic bungalow with a living room, separate dining room, private outdoor terrace, a fully equipped kitchen with full-size top end appliances and a separate laundry room with full-size washer and dryer.
By comparison, all suites at The Breakers are one-bedroom suites, a few of which can have an adjoining room added to create a 2-bedroom suite. The 1,250 sq. ft Royal Poinciana 1-bedroon suite costs $3,320./night in high season (Nov.25 to May 4) and has the option of adding an adjoining bedroom for an additional $950./night. Parking is $30/day at The Breakers; the Casa Grandview provides free parking.
Luxury in Palm Beach
Casa Grandview resort consists of a number of historic detached buildings in close proximity to each other, most accessible from almost hidden little no-name street that receives only resident guest traffic. If you're looking for laid-back tranquility and privacy in spacious, comfortably luxurious surroundings, then this oasis in West Palm Beach's historic Grandview District is a good choice.
One of the obvious assets of The Breakers hotel is its oceanfront location, and select rooms and suites with an ocean view carry a premium price. Admittedly, Casa Grandview is not situated on the ocean, although with just a short ride across the Royal Palm Way bridge you can be on Palm Beach's public beach which is just slightly south of The Breakers within minutes.
Casa Grandview's guests have a choice of two salt water swimming pools plus a rather unexpected treat - a private outdoor shower, big enough for two to shower au naturel. Alas, during our stay, the weather wasn't agreeable to showering in the buff, so sadly we didn't try it!
Guests of Casa Grandview receive the personal attention of the unique resort's owners, Cheryl and Kirk Grantham who live onsite. Their beautifully restored villa is comprised of two historic houses that were saved from demolition in the early 1990's when the nearby and once grand "Hillcrest" area was being cleared for the expansion of the West Palm Beach airport. Cheryl Grantham saw the first of the demolition and contacted then state senator, Ed Healey who convinced Governor Graham to put a stop order on the neighborhood demolition.
Eventually, the saved Hillcrest district houses were sold for $1. each on the condition that they be moved. Many of these saved historic houses were moved from Hillcrest to Grandview Heights by Rod Tinson of Tinson Antiques; two of them - a Mediterranean Revival house and a Spanish Mission style house were artfully restored and combined with a new compatible middle addition by local renovator Paul Newman to form the large eclectic villa that the Granthams live in today, and where the Casa Grandview office and reception area are located.
We stayed in the "Bahamas Breeze Caribbean Hideaway Cottage" which instantly felt like our "home" away from home.
