Classical Connect Presents Robert Waechter

"The souvenir of a concert performance fades away like a transient drawing in the sand. By recording my music, I try to maintain the illusion of duration," says the Viennese-born, French-based composer and violinist. Mr. Waechter learned to play the violin by the age of 8, becoming concertmaster of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra in 1980. Concertmaster of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Nice/Opera de Nice since 1984, he also plays in the contemporary music ensemble "Apostrophe." His most recent recording is GoeddeConcerto, a collaboration between the composer and the photographer Steve Diet Goedde. His earlier recordings include Fragments, Stillness, and Broken Guru. Mr. Waechter's influences include Fritz Kreisler, Palestrina, and Steve Reich.

Classical Connect currently features more than 10 compositions by Mr. Waechter, who also plays a violin part in them all. “I write … just what I like to play,” says Mr. Waechter.

Classical Connect is continually expanding its features and adding new artists, composers, and performances. Several recent contemporary musical additions, aside from Mr. Waechter, include compositions by the American composer George Flynn and German composer Heinz Chur.
