Lansing, Mich. June 26, 2009—Founded in 1855, Michigan State has recently come from celebrating its sesquicentennial year. Although Michigan State has been around for so long it has yet to stop expanding itself physically and mentally. Based in the states capital, Michigan State University is currently home to over 46,000 students that span all counties in Michigan, all 50 states and 130 countries of the world. Michigan State University offers more than 200 programs offered by 17 different degree-granting colleges. Students can enjoy studying in one of Michigan States many open fields decorated with over 100 different types of trees and forestry.

Michigan State is the national leader in study abroad programs and is the fifth largest producer of Peace Corps volunteers. MSU is ranked 30th among the nations public universities and is ranked in the top five campuses in the nation according to the National Wildlife Federation’s Campus Environment 2008 report card.

Michigan State is home to national ranking sports teams including, but not limited to; Women’s and Men Basketball, Football, Hockey and Track. The University also offers a vast array of intramural sports for students to engage in at leisure. Furthermore, Michigan State has ample activities for students to engage in. Centers such as the Wharton and Breslin centers are home to ice shows, circuses, concerts and theaters. Students are encouraged to get involved in these activities as well as student life. MSU offers over 500 registered student groups, and over 50 national affiliated Greek organizations. “I got involved and I would not trade my experience as a Spartan for the world, I will bleed green forever!” Says one active graduating senior.

Unlike many other Big Ten campus’ Michigan States campus is all meshed together. Public transportation is available for students to make there way across the vast campus but nevertheless, everything is in one area. No long drives are necessary which makes for the closeness of the true Spartan atmosphere. Spartans all working together to achieve one goal. Go Green! Or go nothing at all!
