Michigan State University introduced the New Media Driver's License course to its advertising, public relations and retailing departments.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 28, 2009 -- Michigan State University is now offering a New Media Driver's License course through its campus. The goal of the course is to instruct students on how to best utilize new media in their future careers.

The course's main focus will be to place students on the leading edge of social media, search engine optimization and marketing. All while using tools for new media such as Facebook, Linkedin, StumbleUpon, Flickr, and Digg. The skills learned in this course are becoming even more beneficial for students planning on entering the business field today, because everyday society becomes increasingly more dependent on technology.

New Media Driver's License is taught by Derek Mehraban, CEO of Ingenex Digital Marketing, and Dr. Richard Cole, Chair of the Advertising, Retailing and Public Relations Department at Michigan State University.

Available as an online course, New Media Driver's License attracts many students during its summer session. Where, upon completion of the course each student will receive a New Media Driver's License Certificate. Certification in this course allows students to walk confidentially into job interviews with proof that they are among the small percentage of students who are technologically capable in areas such as social media and virtual marketing. However, before certification will be granted students must demonstrate that they fully understand the different elements that go into new media. This is done through completion of the weekly blogging assignments posted, by the instructors, on the course website - http://newmediadl.com/. As well as attending two required in-class sessions. Both of the in-class sessions are held at Walsh College in Novi Michigan and last between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.

This course is currently offered at both the undergraduate and also the graduate level. In hopes that eventually all advertising, retailing and public relations students at Michigan State University will be given the opportunity to become knowledgeable in the new media and marketing skills taught through this program.
