FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 1, 2009 --
--Pittsburgh, PA – July, 2009 – It’s been called the “most advanced Spinning® studio in the Pittsburgh area” since it opened in the winter of 2007, but now all of the Spinner® bikes have been removed, and it will have to settle for being called the most advanced Indoor Cycling studio instead (the use of Spinner bikes are a requirement of the Spinning® program). Even though most people refer to indoor riding as “spinning”, the company SPIN Fitness (Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc.) has well guarded their series of trademarked names of SPIN, Spinner and Spinning from unlicensed use. So much so that local clubs that are not licensed by SPIN Fitness can not even use those words to advertise their indoor cycling programs.
“We’ve taken all the “spin-ish” words off of our website – as far as possible – and have begun to get staff used to using the term “indoor cycling”. It is actually more appropriate to our mission anyway, since we are trying to create a movement within the fitness industry we call CYCLING FUSION. This concept aims to bring the two worlds of indoor cycling and outdoor cycling together so that outdoor cyclists can discover how good training indoors can be, and indoor fitness enthusiasts can discover the adventures and joys of riding outside” - Said Gene Nacey, USA Cycling Coach & Owner of Global Ride, LLC.
This past winter, Mr. Nacey purchased a Keiser M3 bike with Heart Rate, Cadence and Power meter to help him prepare for an event designed to prove the efficacy of indoor training; the Giretto. By using the power meter and heart rate monitor of the Keiser M3 indoor cycle, Gene and his daughter Nina were able to ride 4 complete stages of the Giro d’Italia in Italy from start to finish – over a hundred miles per day, with two of those 4 consecutive days being spent in the Dolomites where Lance lost the most minutes of all stages of that grand tour. You can read the daily blog about this trip at: http://cyclingfusion.com/fanatics/
The results were so dramatic and successful that immediately upon his return, Mr. Nacey ordered the complete replacement of all Spinning® bikes with the Keiser M3s.
On June 30th, 2009 Global Ride Training Center in Lower Burrell, PA was effectively reborn as an Indoor Cycling, Pilates & Yoga studio with a sell out indoor cycling class. To kick off the momentous occasion, their affiliate (Global Ride Productions) held the premier of their first virtual cycling DVD from Italy. In fact, this class had the audio recorded for the DVD’s “live class” menu option.
Members of Global Ride were treated to not only a room full of brand new indoor bikes with the latest training technology, but they were riding on virtual roads in Italy shown on two 11 foot screens. A 5 minute YouTube video of the event can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKLVDAtAQWw
