As part of this, Khen Rinpoche will also teach the four stages of meditations on the middle way.

Friend and foe, acceptance and rejection, self and no-self, self-gratification and self-mortification, theism and atheism - usually we drift to one extreme or the other. The Buddha taught the Middle Way that is free from the traps of all such extremes. This forms the heart of the Buddha's teachings. It is a path of clear discernment beyond dogmas. It is a path of skilful method conjoined with wisdom.

In his teaching Khen Rinpoche will elucidate the middle-way of the Buddha. This will include the relevance of the Middle-way in daily life as well as in the journey to awakening. Rinpoche will teach about the Great Middle Way doctrine of emptiness. The distinctions of Nyingma tradition with regard to the Middle Way will be discussed. Rinpoche will also guide us through "the four essential meditations on the Middle Way".

The program will be conducted at Ashirvad, St. Marks Road Cross, Opposite SBI, St. Marks Road, Bangalore from 3:00pm to 6:30pm on the 12th of July. It is free of charges and open for all. About the Master:

Khenchen Pema Sherab Rinpoche is the most senior Khenpo (Abbot) in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet. He was born in Tibet and studied under masters and scholars of all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. He was ordained in 1953. At the age of seventeen, he met his spiritual teacher, His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He received most of his teachings from Khyentse Rinpoche including the Guhyagarbha, Longchenpa's Treasury of Pith Instructions, Kagyud Ngag Dzog, Rinchen Terdzod, Jigme Lingpa's Yoten Dzod, Lochen Dharmashri's Explanation on Ngari Penchen's Three Vows, etc. On various occasions, he also received many teachings and empowerments from highly realized masters like His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, His Holiness Penor Rinpoche and His Holiness Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche. In 1968, H.H. Penor Rinpoche invited him to Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple, Bylakkuppe) to teach Dharma there. Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, the largest monastic University of the Nyingma tradition outside of Tibet, was established at Namdroling in 1978. Since then, Khen Rinpoche has been teaching at the institute. H.H. Penor Rinpoche conferred him the title of Khenchen (great abbot). Khen Rinpoche has travelled around the globe giving teachings and empowerments. He has also written several books on Buddhist philosophy and logic and a biography of Guru Padmasambhava.
