FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 7, 2009 -- San Francisco, CA—In response to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (set for theatrical release on July 15), Author and speaker Connie Neal will be speaking on Sunday, July 19, at The Journey church in San Francisco, and answering the question "What Would Jesus Say to Harry Potter?" followed by a Q & A session. The event is at The Regency Center, 1290 Sutter St. San Francisco, CA 94122.

Neal will be covering several key issues relating to Hollywood and its popular stories and their impact on religion, culture and the Christian faith.

The controversy and debate surrounding Harry Potter will undoubtedly continue for many years to come. But regardless of how one might view the fantasy series, it cannot be denied that these books by J. K. Rowling and the movies they've spawned can serve as tremendous points of discussion encompassing a wide range of perennial themes that are inherent to classic storytelling: courage, loyalty, bravery, sin, love, forgiveness, and the ancient battle of good versus evil. Join Connie Neal as she answers the question: "What Would Jesus Say to Harry Potter?"

Connie Neal was the first Christian author to publicly challenge negative attacks against Harry Potter from some in the Christian community - and endured the resultant backlash. Author of What's a Christian to do with Harry Potter? (WaterBrook Press, 2000); The Gospel according to Harry Potter (Westminster John Knox Press, 2002, complete version 2008); Wizards, Wardrobes, and Wookiees: Navigating Good and Evil in Harry Potter, Narnia, & Star Wars (InterVarsity Press, 2007).

Neal has authored dozens of Christian books, was a Youth Pastor for more than a decade, toured with Women of Faith as a guest speaker, and was editor / contributor to several Bible projects, including The Life Recovery Bible and Kids' Devotional Bible. She holds a BA in Communication from Pepperdine University, Malibu and is close to completing her MS in Education. www.ConnieNeal.com
