Renowned Astrophysicist Jeffrey Bennett releases his third book in the award winning children’s MAX SCIENCE ADVENTURE SERIES starring Max, a 100-pound Rottweiler on his trips to the various planets in our solar system. MAX GOES TO JUPITER (ISBN: 9-780972-18-1938, $16.95) written by Jeffrey Bennett and illustrated by Michael Carroll is an entertaining story and educational book for the many children that enjoy the wonders of space. The book has already won top awards in the following children's book award programs “PARENT APPROVED TEACHER ACCEPTED,” NAUTILUS, BIG KID SCIENCE AND THE COLORADO BOOK awards. In MAX GOES TO JUPITER, the lovable Max and his friends set out to journey Jupiter leaping beyond the realm of the inner solar system on a visit to explore the giant planet and its wondrous moons.
Instead of the traditional space ship and rocket, MAX travels to Jupiter by a space elevator. This and many other educational thoughts, ideas and science lessons are presented along with the fun antics of MAX, the Rottweiler, and his human friends. Each page of the book includes a story section and a sidebar that goes into detail on various topics related to space, science, and history. Some topics include Galileo, Jupiter’s Moons, the use of a space elevator, the surface of Jupiter, gravity, volcanoes, and Earth.
Jeffrey Bennett, creator of the Max Science Adventure Series holds a Ph.D. in astrophysics and is well known for his work in mathematics and science education. He is also a best selling author of numerous textbooks in mathematics, statistics, astronomy, and astrobiology. His most recent trade book, Beyond UFOs (Princeton University Press, Summer 2008) has received critical acclaim. Max accompanies author Jeffrey Bennett on many occasions when he reads his books at libraries and schools.
