New Consumer Website Makes Cash for Clunkers Easy for consumers in Los Angeles, CA
www.CashForClunkersLA.com - New Consumer Information Website educates consumers in Los Angeles, California about Cash for Clunkers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 8, 2009 --LOS ANGELES, CA - www.CashForClunkersLA.com was launched to help consumers in Los Angeles learn how they can turn a $500 trade-in car into a $4,500 trade-in by turning in an older, less fuel efficient vehicle for a government funded voucher worth up to $4,500 toward the purchase of a new car with improved gas mileage of one to ten miles per gallon, depending on the vehicle purchased.
The government has set up a website to give consumers access to the legislation (http://www.cars.gov/index.php/official-information), but dealers have the job of applying for the government credits on behalf of consumers who have been directed by the NHTSA to work through participating dealers to retrieve their government assistance. To make it easy for consumers, Penske Toyota and Honda are educating consumers in Los Angeles through their websites, www.CashForClunkersLA.com and www.DineroPorSuCarcacha.com (for spanish speaking consumers). These consumer information sites help buyers learn about the program, determine if they qualify and connect them with representatives from the dealership who can give them pricing information on the new car they want.
www.CashForClunkersLA.com is a consumer information portal, not a government website, so it is designed to give the consumer a simple summary of the program with tips on how to maximize the amount of the rebate based on the car they decide to buy. The NHTSA, the government agency administering the program, says, "You are not required to sign up or enroll in this program. Participating new car dealers will apply a credit, reducing the price you pay at the time of your purchase or lease, provided the vehicle meets the program requirements." "Penske has made it easy for consumers to connect with a participating dealer online rather than wasting gas driving around town because the website helps consumers get pricing from the comfort of their home," said Sharon O'Connell, director of www.CashForClunkersInformation.org, the company that built the website for Penske.
One of the most popular features on the site is their Clunker Calculator which helps consumers quickly determine if their current vehicle qualifies for either the $3500 or the $4,500 government funded credit. The site also includes vehicles that are ideal candidates for the $3,500 and $4,500 vouchers and helps consumers inquire online to get product, pricing and payment information directly from the dealer.
Consumers that are not eligible for the government program may be eligible for the extraordinary dealership and manufacturer incentive programs which are at an all time high due to the inventory levels caused by the down economy. The healthy incentive programs enable consumers to drive a brand new vehicle for approximately $5 per day. Renting the same car could cost up to $100 per day. "This is a perfect storm for consumers. After all the incentives, consumers can get a new car for alot less than people are paying for used cars," said Roger Penske Jr.
Program Overview:
The official name of the bill is called C.A.R.S. – “Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Program” (you can view the rules at www.ConsumerAssistanceToRecycleAndSaveProgram.org) and is Title XIII of Bill H.R. 2346. The program will receive an initial allocation of $1B funded by the US government as part of a War appropriations bill. The program time length is 7/1-11/1 and it will be implemented by the NHTSA, which will announce the final rules on July 23rd on www.cars.gov, the only official government website with information about the CARS program. According to their website, “You may want to contact your local dealer in mid-July." However, a lot of consumers realize that the money could run out before they apply for the rebate, so they are trying to get a head start with dealerships who can help them get a head start by completing the paperwork now and lining up options for financing and vehicle disposal so they are amongst the early applicants when the rules are announced on July 23rd.
To view the vehicles that qualify and to get online price quotes from a licensed dealer visit www.CashForClunkersLA.com or www.DineroPorSuCarcacha.com for Spanish speakers.
About the Name – Cash For Clunkers
While making its way through congress there were many bills with many names so the public and the press commonly referred to all versions of the bill as the “Cash for Clunkers” program. For this reason many consumer information sites, including ours, have utilized this universally understood term to refer to the many automotive scrappage programs that exist in the world, some funded by the government (C.A.R.S) and others financed by automotive retailers.
