United States of America (Press Release) July 12, 2009 – Brooklyn NY, July 12, 2009, 2009-- Brooklyn based, Revelation Performing Arts and Athletics Urban Youth Ministry Inc (formerly Revelation Performing Arts Studo Inc) celebrates 10-years of using arts and athletics to enhance character, educational aptitudes and technical astuteness in young aspiring thespians and athletes living in Bushwick, East New York, Bedford Stuyvesant, East Flatbush, Flatbush, and Carnarsie Brooklyn.
Revelation Performing Arts and Athletics Urban Youth Ministry Inc – RPAAUYM Inc is a 501(c)3 Not-for-Profit Performing Arts and Athletics Youth Development Organization that uses arts and athletics to transform the hearts of young people, mentor for indigenous leadership, and commission for urban community revitalization. In partnership with John Wilson School/I.S. 211, Lincoln Center Institute, TrueBounce Basketball and NBA Read to Achieve Program under the tutelage of Bobby Bingo Smith, RPAAUYM Inc uses the 40-Youth Developmental Asset Builders (http://www.searchinstitute.org) to assist young people and their families through the adolescent years.
RPAAUYM Inc offers year-round arts (dance, music, drama, visual arts) and athletics (basketball) educational programming for children and adolescents who receive professional training from local artist and coaches living in the metro New York area. The artists and coaches walk alongside the youth serving as mentors. In addition to other professionals who volunteer as mentors for many of the ministry's at-risk youth-developing long term relationships that allow young people to flourish as purposed.
John Wilson is the second New York City School to partner with RPAAUYM Inc and will host a SummerARTS Institute "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," July 27, 2009 through August 28, 2009 with a theatrical production on August 28, 2009 at the John Wilson School, 1001 East 100th, Street Brooklyn, NY 11236. In addition to participating in several AAU and metropolitan area basketball tournaments. A special afternoon dress rehearsal performance will be held for local youth groups and summer camps prior to the August 28th performance.
Founders Mr. and Mrs. Chapman, both educators, are committed to discipling youth-raising a generation of indigenous leaders who will use their voices for righteousness becoming active members of society; thus, obtaining a seat at the table with decision makers.
