Hyundai Market Share Up %35: Good News for Maryland Hyundai Dealer
Korean Automaker Hyundai Motor America announced their market share is at an all time high. Preston Hyundai in Maryland is one of many dealerships proud to represent the Hyundai brand.

The month of June brought good news to Hyundai Motor and its large dealership network. Last month Hyundai ranked first in multiple surveys from J.D. Power & Associates and achieved their highest market share 4.2 percent. Preston Hyundai in Maryland is excited to see the market share up so high for the Korean automaker.
Hyundai Motor America has constantly grown their market share each month in the first half of the year and plans on continuing the pattern in the second half of the year. During this time last year market share was only at 3.1 percent as opposed to this year’s 4.2 percent, resulting in a 35 percent increase over a one year period.
Last month Hyundai Motor America also had the pride of being America’s first place non-premium name plate in J.D. & Associates Initial Quality Survey. The survey also concluded that the Genesis ranked first in the segment “All new/Re-Designed Model” while the Elantra ranked first in the compact car segment beating out Prius, Civic and Corolla.
Hyundai’s CEO, John Krafcik, stated that with car buyers trading in gas guzzlers under the new CARS program and Hyundai’s gas price-lock program, Hyundai will be an “unbeatable choice.” Hyundai’s price-lock program allows customers to purchase or lease a new Hyundai and receive gas at just $1.49 per gallon for a year.
The price-lock program was established as the result of a consumer hesitance survey. Krafcik stated, “Research shows that nearly 40% of potential new car buyers are staying out of the market specifically due to uncertainty around future gas prices.” The price-lock program is an innovative program that eliminates the uncertainty of gas prices and gets customers into new vehicles.
Hyundai dealerships have found ways to combine all of the recent incentives in order to provide the cheapest possible price to loyal customers. John Skalstad, General Manager at Preston Hyundai, stated “We understand why Hyundai is now the 6th bestselling brand in the U.S. The price-lock guarantee and the government rebate under the CARS program offer a cheap vehicle both during the purchase and after the purchase when you need to fill up at the pump!”
With Hyundai beating out Dodge for the 6th position as best-selling brand in America, more consumers will take notice of the increase in purchases of new Hyundai models. The second half of 2009 should be interesting as Hyundai Motor America will continue their innovative marketing strategies and incentives which will ultimately benefit the American car buyer.
