Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://www.makeadifference101.org Based on the familiar saying, When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, The Lemonade Stand identifies the eight key ingredients needed for making L-E-M-O-N-A-D-E: Life’s lemons, Empathy, Mission, Opportunity, Network, Action, Determination and Encouragement. Plus, it includes the amazing stories of real people who are already making that difference.
In talking with people who volunteer, one thing that became very clear was that they were in need of a book that makes it possible for them to do more, explained David Justus, Author and President of Northcoast University, LLC. That's what The Lemonade Stand was written to help with.
A guide for students, volunteers, and other good-hearted people, The Lemonade Stand is a short course in how to make a difference. It includes a step-by-step process, which takes people from finding a cause they are passionate about, adds meaning and purpose, identifies opportunities, and helps to develop a network and a plan of action, followed by a dose of determination and encouragement. Practical principles, sound advice, and inspirational stories empower readers of all ages and backgrounds to positively change other's lives for the better.
The initial response to the book has better than expected, continued Justus. I think what we are seeing here is that readers are not only drawn to the recipe for making a difference but to the stories of real people actually doing it.
For example, one story is written by Sammielynn and Charlielynn Zipperer, ages 10 and 12, two sisters who started their own charity called Blankets for the Homeless, which has a mission to make sure every homeless man, woman and child is warm at night. Sammie and Charlie, as they are more affectionately known, spend their time collecting money and buying blankets for the homeless in Fort Myers, Florida. They then go out into nearby homeless camps and give away the blankets and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to families in need.
Other stories include that of Christopher Thomas and how he started a social network for diabetics; Brian Horn, who while serving in Iraq started a program that has helped more than 1,300,000 servicemen; and Amy Hicks, who with the help of her two dogs, is reaching children and people in ways that otherwise were unable to be helped. Plus, there's more stories.
We feel strongly that people will not only be empowered to make a difference, but will likewise be encouraged by the stories and how the charities highlighted in the book are impacting people's lives for the better, explained Justus. For this reason, through the end of August 2009, we are sharing free e-versions of The Lemonade Stand on our Web site at www.MakeaDifference101.org .
There are absolutely no hidden catches to this promotion, said Justus. We just thought this would be a great way to introduce the book to anyone who's been eager to make a difference, but who just hasn't had the chance to do so for one reason or another.
Northcoast University, LLC develops and distributes innovative educational materials intended to empower people to make a difference in the lives of others. For this reason, we partner with schools, charities, and non-profit organizations to increase their ability to fulfill their mission and strengthen their community.
