Operation Showers of Appreciation Crop - A Scrapbook Royalty Affiliate Event

(Free-Press-Release.com) July 21, 2009 -- SAN DIEGO, CA – Operation Showers of Appreciation, who has been working hard for years to get essential baby items to military families, is joining forces with Scrapbook Royalty, a non-profit organization that hosts scrapbooking events to raise money and awareness for other charities. This is great news for San Diego’s military.

The 12-hour event is being held on August 29, 2009 at Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks in Vista, California. The crop (a type of modern-day quilting bee where participants scrapbook, craft, share, and have fun) will feature a class, fabulous goodies and fairy fly bys, games, great food, tea time, camaraderie, and more! The event will raise money through donations, raffles, and silent auctions.
According to statistics, 60% of military families need financial aid. That’s not a comforting thought when starting a family. Operation Showers of Appreciation focuses on this specific population by throwing quarterly baby showers for 10 – 15 expecting moms.

Combining the ever popular hobby of scrapbooking and raising money for charity, Scrapbook Royalty (SBR) has discovered the perfect recipe for success. Well-known and supported throughout the Southern California scrapbooking community, Scrapbook Royalty is a non-profit organization that hosts scrapbooking events to raise money and awareness for other charities. Since its inception just three years ago, SBR's participants have raised over $194,000, completed 78 albums for families coping with cancer, collected over 3600 blank handmade cards and sent them to troops overseas to send home for the holidays, made 150 frames for a prom for teens with cancer, and collected 300 pairs of socks for a homeless shelter during the rainy season.
