A Hand Up Foundation Donates $15,000 to Children’s Literacy Program

(Free-Press-Release.com) July 23, 2009 -- Las Vegas, Nevada – Spread the Word Nevada, Inc., a nonprofit children’s literacy organization based in Henderson, is the recipient of a $15,000 donation from A Hand Up Foundation. This donation will ensure that reading and education remain a priority in the lives of the at-risk youth in Southern Nevada. Kids to Kids a flagship program of Spread the Word Nevada focuses on the importance of book ownership by distributing new and gently used books to children and families in need.

A Hand Up’s recent annual fundraiser, which featured special guest Senator John Ensign, raised money to benefit a variety of charities during a 2-day event including golf and NASCAR. Spread the Word Nevada was one of the organizations selected to benefit from the foundation’s fundraising efforts. A Hand Up has been a long time supporter of children’s literacy donating proceeds from their annual fundraiser to Spread the Word Nevada in 2007 and 2005, as well.

Their organization exemplifies our mission to help those children in our community who are in need of a hand up.”
