New eBay Selling Series: Power Seller Mentoring Provides Useful, Easy To Understand, & Proven Steps To Boost Sales

July 24, 2009

My review of a new "How To" book for selling on eBay. This surprisingly has real substance. It's easy to read, set up logically, & really dives down into what should be the mindset of a top seller.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 24, 2009 --

There are already hundreds of books, videos, eBooks, and several live courses on the market all touting how to make millions selling your wares on eBay. So why do these guys: Edward Sayers (RPM Business Group) & Scott Andrews (recycleboz.com) think we need their 2 cents worth of information? We have already learned from Power Seller Dave Espino all he did to earn his money, eBay for Dummies made the process so easy to understand that a monkey could do it (yeah right), and even the famous "Griff" himself has given us the eBay Bible. What else do we need and why do we need it from these guys?

Edward Sayers & Scott Andrews are both former eBay employees who worked in a division called Top Seller Account Management (unofficially referred to as TSAM). They left eBay in 2007 & 2008 respectively to begin their own start-ups. Edward started RPM Business Group; working independently with eBay sellers & Scott decided to complete his book "High-Profit Recycling" www.recyclebiz.com. Fast forward nearly 2 years and we find them now joining forces.

In a recent interview Edward was asked about why he chose to work on this project. You can see from his in-depth answer he certainly does have a passion for this and that definitely comes through in this series of books.

"eBay kind of grows on you and after a while it became second nature. I often found myself talking with people about their eBay accounts during non work hours. Working for eBay was like telling someone you are a doctor. As soon as they found out, they all have something they need you to help with. Even my wife gets questions for me. She once called me at work from a hardware store because she somehow brought up, during a conversation with another customer, that I worked at eBay and this guy had a problem and needed help.

It was fun working at eBay and helping people, I got quite good at explaining things to sellers in ways which people from different backgrounds all could easily understand. I was surprised when I started working with the top sellers how many of them were selling tens of thousands of dollars or more each month yet were doing quite a few things wrong. You would have thought these sellers would be doing everything right.

My accounts were regular people just like everyone else: retired line workers, stay at home moms, & even college students. Very few actually had business knowledge, although one was a Harvard graduate. Yet, in spite of all that, they were making a lot of sales; the problem was many were not very profitable (and most of them did not even realize it).

I was able to help them with that and it felt great. I really got energized by watching these sellers take my advice, implement it, and find success. Giving them simple & easy to follow suggestions which they could make often showed dramatic results right away and that was cool.

None of the tips were earth shattering but when speaking with someone wearing 20 different hats, usually several at once, those simple steps got overlooked. That, combined with my passion for helping others, was probably planting a seed even back then.

It was due to a random chance meeting with Scott in June 2009 and though several subsequent discussions that this just kind of mushroomed within a month of our paths crossing. We both felt that there was a need for information from someone with our unique background & expertise that have actually helped others to implement and find success with many of our ideas but as we could not find such a product, we decided to create one.

I received an advanced copy of the first book in this series; Power Seller Mentoring: A Detailed listing Review For Success. This series is still being compiled and is expected to be about 5 - 10 books (each with 10 modules) when completed. It has been rumored they will be shooting short videos to accompany each module. They will also be sending out monthly updates with regards to changes being made on eBay which will affect sellers. What a wonderful idea to have information spaced out so that sellers can take time to implement the ideas and in a sequence that takes them right through from creating a listing, to opening a store, to marketing both on and off eBay and even beyond. It truly covers all the bases like no other program I personally have seen.

While the focus for this book is geared towards sellers already on eBay, I believe that new sellers can also benefit from this information and forego the potentially lengthy learning curve. This is written in an easy to follow, almost conversational tone, and takes 35 pages to discuss the single topic of a listing, the very basic element of eBay. My first thought was how can someone drone on about a listing for 35 long pages? It did not seem possible, and if it was, this had to be a bunch of fluff. Boy was I wrong! This book drives home a completely different mindset that sellers should take when listing on eBay.

It goes into important details about the structure & format of a title, what words you should & should not include, & how to format your title in order to appear larger on the search page than the titles of other listings.

It even gives you a single word to add in your titles which it claims will potentially eliminate half of your competition. I did do a few searches as suggested and it does appear that one word will definitely increase the chance of pulling someone into your listing over (more than half of the other listings) through my searches. Sorry, I did promise not to reveal that specific word.

Basically, there is a new book in town and it certainly deserves to be added to the top of your collection of other eBay selling books. Their marketing strategy is also unique. They are not looking to mainstream this product into retail stores, although it is strong enough to hold its own. It is being marketed as an eCourse for a subscription rate in order to continue getting additional modules ( 1 - 2 depending on module size) in the series every 2 weeks for a nominal recurring fee. The theory for this "spoon-feeding" is to put 1 concept in front of you at a time and have you focus on that only, then move on to the next step and again have the time to only focus on that step. Also, this way you only pay for what you feel you will use. If you find the information is not beneficial for you anymore (although we doubt you will) you can cancel the recurring charges at any time. Each book in the series will also be offered as a stand alone product at a discounted rate.

They have also announced there will be live webinars designed to compliment the series. This is the only book out there with this mindset of ongoing training which will be targeted right to you, the end user. No longer will you be left alone to decipher the information provided on your own. These webinars can be subscribed to either along with the series for a discounted rate or independent of purchasing the series. What a great concept.

I am surprised that we have not seen anything like this before, but then again, these are the first ex-eBay employees I am aware of to have written a book about selling on eBay. It certainly makes since, eBay trained them and gave them all the best practices, and it is only natural that eventually there would be such a book.

Power Seller Mentoring: A detailed listing Review For Success can be found online only at www.powersellermentoring.com

I suggest you go download the first module free today. Take the information they offer about your title and make the suggested changes. You will definitely find an increase in your traffic and most likely your sales (in a little a just a few days). You get all of this before you buy anything. After you have had the opportunity to test their information, they then offer you the chance to begin buying the rest of the series. I will offer you a spoiler; in one of the modules they show you how to cut $1,800 off your annual eBay fees (if you average 1,000 listings per month) by stopping 1 practice which I find many such high volume sellers doing every day.

While designed to be an ongoing series of modules, they will offer each book as a stand alone product. When you buy the complete book, you have a FULL 30 day 100% no questions asked guarantee. You will also save money compared to subscribing to the individual modules (which you can cancel at any time). They have written, designed, packaged, marketed, and guaranteed a product they know will improve your eBay sales. What have you got to lose?
