July 28, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 28, 2009 -- In this economically difficult environment, both parents need to work to secure sufficient income in case one parent is loosing his or her job.

Critical components for selecting and matching with an au pair are pre-screening, phone interviewing, setting expectations.
Maintaining a strong host family / au pair relationship during her stay in her host family requires effective communication:

Preparing an au pair manual/handbook; weekly schedule including activities, play, games, child-related chores; written rules for children and au pair, guidelines for the au pair.

A lead community counselor with 14+ years of experience created this website specifically for host parents. The primary focus is to help parents finding a good match, the right fit for their family. And facilitating a good working relationship between host family and au pair.

A few facts. Currently, 12 au pair agencies in the USA have designation by the US Department of State. Au pair agencies have been regulated by the State Department since 1986. Only regulated au pair agencies are able to obtain legal J-1 Exchange visitor visas for their au pairs. The J-1 visa allows an au pair to provide childcare to the children in her host family. Not other childcare or outside work is allowed under the J-1 visa.
Local Community Counselor are always ‘tied’ to their au pair agency and only serve the host families and au pairs within their group, within that agency.

Au pairs are nannies from overseas. English is not their first language. Non-native English speakers usually comprehend the written language better than the spoken word. That is why we emphasize written communication.
Written communication is the most effective way to communicate. Verbalizing and repeating reinforces all written communication.
