VEXCON bring in a HUGE Crowd at Shreveport event

BOSSIER CITY, La. – A personal appearance by the gang from Vexcon on July 25 helped the af2 Bossier City BattleWings attract one of the largest crowds in franchise history.

Fans lined up at the CenturyTel Center more than an hour before kickoff of the indoor football game to meet the cast of The Exterminators, the top-rated show on A&E. The BattleWings (11-5), playing in front of the third-largest crowd in the franchise's nine-year history (5,612).

“This is amazing,” BattleWings general manager Butch Bellah said as he surveyed the bustling pre-game scene. “We’re thrilled to be a part of such an exciting show.”

With filming underway for the highly anticipated second season, a production crew was on hand to film the Bretherton family as they signed autographs and posed for hundreds of pictures. The whole clan participated in the promotion, including Billy, Ricky, Big Bill, Donnie and Mary.

“I never miss an episode,” one fan said while she waited in line. “They are so nice in person.”

At halftime, the BattleWings joined an actual wedding on the field. The lucky couple was thrilled to have the entire family take part in the ceremony.

The Brethertons watched the game from the club level with family and friends before visiting with fans again on the field after the game. Motivated by the charged environment, the BattleWings beat the Arkansas Twisters to clinch the Southwest Division title.

“I’ve seen that show and stopped a couple of times,” Wings coach Jon Norris said. “They were doing some nasty stuff on there. I enjoyed the show.”

Season Two of the entertaining docusoap is scheduled to begin airing on A&E in February, 2010.
