Two new real estate studies have buoyed the confidence of Sonoma real estate agent Chris Wurst, who may be the first California agent to predict that the housing market has finally bottomed out and is bouncing back. “The slump is over!” exuded Wurst, a broker with Caldwell Banker DeAnza Realty. Wurst has represented both buyers and sellers in the Sonoma-Napa Valley market for 24 years. “It’s finally an exciting time to be a real estate agent again, especially in a beautiful vacation destination like the Northern California wine country!”
The CAR report detailed the reasons behind the confidence of agents like Wurst and their home buying clients. During June, buyers took advantage of bargain prices, low interest rates and a federal tax credit. The result: sales of new homes during June hit an eight year high. The CAR report was followed by another report from Zip Realty which found that eight out of ten of the nation’s hottest real estate markets are located in California.
“While real estate markets in other parts of the country are still struggling, we’re seeing more sales and higher prices, especially in vacation destination like Sonoma and the Napa Valley,” said Wurst. “We have definitely turned the corner here and I expect agents throughout the state will be as confident as I am now in the next few months.”
Lee Engel and Krista Bruun, two of Wurst’s new clients echo her optimism. “We believe we’ve hit the bottom of the market,” said Bruun. “Interest rates are good so we decided that it makes sense to buy now in the beautiful Sonoma-Napa Valley Wine Country.”
Wurst pointed out that so much attention has been given to the general real estate market; many investors have overlooked real opportunities throughout Sonoma County.
“Every cloud has a silver lining,” said Wurst. “Rental property owners in Sonoma and other destination spots throughout California are doing well and this is a solid market to invest in.”
