Securitas Sercurity Services, USA has been held accountable for their recent violations against the Federal Government. June.30, 2004 will be the last day Securitas will be providing contract security services to Federal facilities nationwide. A long list of violations is what it took for the security giant to be banned from servicing Federal facilities. For the last few years Securitas Security Services, USA, has been hiring security guards and placing them on assignments without conducting the proper procedures, which requires each guard to be granted a Federal Sensitive Clearance.
Allegations of offenses began when complaints were made that many guards working at a United States Priority Mail Processing Center in Kearny, NJ. did not have the proper clearances to be employed there. This Postal Center was also where a gunman enterred the facility in 2001 to seek revenge on ex co-workers, and the gunman was fatally shot by police.
Makes you wonder if the site was vulnerable because of neglegance from the security company.
The loss of these contracts results in Millions of Dollars in lost revenue for the Security company.
So who will secure the facilities as of July.1,2004?
It has been stated that a company by the name of American Commercial Security Services will be assuming all duties of securing these facilities. Hopefully they will follow guidelines that were for so long forgotten by Securitas Security Services.
