With a background as a CPA, focusing on helping small business owners, Murphy views entrepreneurs as his “heroes.” Coaching since 1992 and launching The Growth Coach in 2002, , he has witnessed firsthand the pitfalls and obstacles that many fledgling small business owners experience and his mission is to re-educate and re-focus his clients to lead more, work less, and enjoy greater freedom, financial success, and happiness.

The Growth Coach’s mentoring process includes mapping out changes necessary for the small business owner or entrepreneur to grow, and subsequently, holding them accountable for those changes. The client is shown how to reshape their thinking; both on a business and personal level; thereby, transforming the person and the company. Selling, marketing, leadership, and business systems are put into place. Quarterly personal workshops allow entrepreneurs to come together on common ground to see that they’re not alone in their struggles. They leave the sessions enlightened and with a clearer vision of where their business is going.

The Growth Coach franchisee typically comes from a mentoring background: teachers, social workers, or former small business owners. Their nurturing persona is instrumental in helping the coaches to assist their clients in realizing their goals.

Currently there are 80 The Growth Coach franchises in the U.S. and Canada, with plans in place for an additional 40 in 2005.
