CALL FOR ENTRIES!
SEEKING JILTED FILMMAKERS FOR APRIL 2006 FESTIVAL
15 Days left for deadline savings

New York, N.Y., February 1, 2006 –The Jilted Film Festival – an event in lower Manhattan for comedy shorts that have been rejected by at least one festival – is now accepting entries for its second annual film festival to be held in April 2006. Founded by Brooklyn filmmaker Mellini Kantayya, Jilted is presented by the media production company Brooklyn Tree Productions of which Ms. Kantayya is the creator and artistic/managing director.

Ms. Kantayya’s first comedy short was rejected by five (count ‘em FIVE) major film festivals despite belly aching laughs and rave reviews from test audiences. She found little comfort that many colleagues, all creators of brilliantly hysterical films, were experiencing the same. She vowed to avenge their collective rejection and is launching the first film festival solely for films that have been jilted by other film festivals.

“Last years festival was an amazing success! There are so many great filmmakers out there, and the reality is that without a producer’s rep, P.R. firm, or agent it’s so hard for an unknown filmmaker to get into a big festival – even with an excellent film. The rejection can be demoralizing. This is a fun campy way to celebrate the spirit of perseverance,” adds Kantayya.

Each entry submitted to Jilted must be a comedy short that has been rejected from at least one film festival and cannot exceed 30 minutes. For information on how to submit your entry, please visit www.brooklyntree.com/Jilted.html.
