New York, NY (PRWEB) February 3, 2006 -- New York, NY (PRWEB) February 3, 2006 -- Who will be the next president of Costa Rica? A local radio station ran a serious survey among its listeners and found that Puerto Rican Reggaeton Superstar Daddy Yankee would win the Costa Rican Presidential election scheduled for Sunday, February 5, 2006. Daddy Yankee never entered the presidential race and has never been to the Republic of Costa Rica. The current presidential candidate favorite to win is Oscar Arias, a noble peace prize winner in 1987. Arias supports the TLC with the United States. No word on Daddy Yankee's position on the TLC. "The fact is that Daddy Yankee will never be the official president of Costa Rica, but hopefully we can have him perform at a concert for all the people who 'voted' the Reggaeton superstar into un-official office", said concert promoter, Mark Lugo of Corporacion Lugo ML , S.A. "We are in touch with Daddy Yankee's management to discuss a possible date to celebrate an inaugural ceremony of the 'un-official" president's swearing into office in the form of a concert at San Jose's Ricardo Saprissa Stadium", added Lugo.
Street Jam Reggae Award-winning Daddy Yankee started getting involved in the Puerto Rican "Reggaeton" scene at the age of 13. Known for combining reggae and Latin rap, the newcomer teamed up with Playero before becoming a major local number. In 1998 Daddy Yankee recorded "Posición," along with Alberto Style, featured in One Tough Cop's movie soundtrack followed by contributions on the 2000 album The Piece Maker by New York-based DJ/producer Tony Touch. His international debut came in 2002 with the release of the top-selling El Cangri.com, featuring Nicky Jam, Divino, Speedy and Yagga y Mackie.
