West Palm Beach, FL - February 28, 2006 - Taking their beliefs beyond their school, a dedicated group of high school students, compassionate about the fight against cancer, have decided to host the Dreyfoos School of the Arts/West Palm Beach Relay for Life this April 7th at South Olive Park in West Palm Beach.
For the past few years, Dreyfoos School Of the Arts has held the Relay for Life event on the school's campus, however this year, the students have decided to take the event as their own and open it up to the larger West Palm Beach Community.
“This is a cause that we feel passionate about,” stated Tabitha Diaz, the event organizer, “and we wanted to do something that would reach not just our school, but our community as a whole.”
The event, "Relay For Life", focuses on cancer awareness and survivorship and is supported by the American Cancer Society. The evening portion consists of teams with booths where they are selling items or performing activities to raise money for the
American Cancer Society to fund research and programs for the American Cancer Society such as such as Road to Recovery and Look Good, Feel Better.
The "Relay For Life" is an overnight event, where each team must have at least one member from each team walking or running the track for the entire 18 hour period, to prove that cancer doesn't sleep.
If you are interested in participating in the event and organizing at team, you must get a group of people as little as 2 and as many as 15, to raise $100. They would then fill out the team application to the event organizer, Tabitha Diaz; and begin fundraising to reach a team goal. If you are not able to organize a team, everyone is encouraged to attend and show support for cancer.
