By U. J. Levy, SF Dispatcher

SF 911 has been understaffed, overworked, underpaid and unprepared for a major disaster; We need public support on Thurs, May 4, 2006

For_Immediate_Release:

Recent surveys as reported on KTVU Channel 2 TV as well as KGO Channel 7 News in San Francisco, Ca. revealed that San Francisco 911 Dispatchers are among the lowest paid in the SF Bay Area.

The news reports indicated that the dispatch center has been severly understaffed for years. The 911 emergency center has become a "training ground" for other agencies, as new dispatchers are trained and lost to other agencies.

The 911 Dispatchers are pleading to the public to show support at City Hall on Thursday, May 4th, 2006 from 5:00pm until 6:00pm. SEIU Local 790 will be in contract negotiations with the City and County of San Francisco and at stake will be our future emergency services.
