FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
John Morrison, author and webmaster for Simpletidbits.com, discovered an astonishing thing while researching his own broadband solution. At first he was impressed that Cable internet service would save him almost 145 seconds for every 1 Megabyte(MB) downloaded vs. dial up. Then he did a little more research and found that 768Kilobits per second(Kbps) DSL saved him nearly 136 seconds per 1MB downloaded compared to dial up. John realized that using 6.0Mbps Cable instead of 768Kbps DSL saved him only 9 seconds. Even though Cable is 7.8 times faster, it yielded only 6.5% additional time savings, yet it cost nearly three times as much. With the pricing in John's area that meant DSL was at least 613% more cost effective than Cable.
John has written an entire article, complete with a graph and tables clearly comparing the cost and time saving relationship for different levels of DSL service and for Cable and posted it to Simpletidbits.com.
