Anyone who has tried to get their work published knows how difficult of a task that can be. It is hard enough just to get a manuscript read, let alone published without an agent or prior credentials. To help aspiring writers overcome this daunting challenge, Shady Palm Publications announced the commencement of their semiannual Golden Quill contest.
Shady Palm Publications is currently accepting entries in the categories of short stories, poetry, humor, and plays. Anyone is welcomed to enter. The winners, as judged by Shady Palm's editors, will have their entry published in the compilation book, Golden Quill: Volume One.
"We encourage new writers to enter this contest," said one Shady Palm editor. "It will give new writers a chance to be recognized for their talent and excellent work and gain exposure, which is always and advantage in the publishing industry. When submitting something for publication, publishers are always interested to know what literary accomplishments the author has achieved. This contest seeks to help talented writers build their resume and gain an advantage in the publishing industry."
Entries for the Golden Quill contest can be submitted on-line at shady-palm.com. Complete rules and details can also be found by visiting Shady Palm Publications online. "We are very excited about this contest, and are confident that we will discover new talent," concluded a Shady Palm editor. For consideration in the current contest, submissions must be received by December 31, 2006.
