MINNEAPOLIS (July 31, 2006) - Pre-heat the oven, bring out your favorite Bundt® pan and put that frosting away! Nordic Ware – maker of the iconic pan – is celebrating “60 years of American Made Traditions” by hosting a national contest inviting bakers to submit their most creative, best-tasting Bundt creation. Each recipe entered into the contest will be judged on originality, taste, texture, visual appearance and how closely and creatively it represents the state where the baker lives. For example, residents of Georgia could create a peach-flavored/themed Bundt cake. Bakers will be required to capture the essence of the Bundt cake meaning no elaborate use of frostings. The contest runs from May 1, 2006 to September 1, 2006.
”The Bundt cake has been a dessert baked for generations in virtually every kitchen in America,” says David Dalquist, president of Nordic Ware. “This contest is a celebration of the bakers that continue to re-invent the Bundt cake with their creative flair. Our 60th anniversary isn’t just for Nordic Ware, it’s also for the people who love baking with our Bundt pans.”
Contest Rules:
As part of the contest, Nordic Ware and a team of culinary experts will select one winner from each state, including the District of Columbia. From those 51 winners, 10 will be chosen as finalists to participate in a national bakeoff contest. A team of culinary experts will bake the final cakes and Nordic Ware will select one national winner from those 10 finalists. No professional bakers may participate in the contest.
Prizes:
The “Bundts Across America” grand prize winner will receive a family reunion party for up to 50 people, hosted by Nordic Ware in the winner’s hometown, including an assortment of Bundt cakes for dessert. In addition, the winner’s kitchen will be outfitted with $1,000 worth of Nordic Ware products of his or her choosing. Each of the national finalists will receive a $500 gift certificate for Nordic Ware products. Each of the state winners will receive a $100 gift certificate for Nordic Ware products and will be the featured state recipe in the upcoming “Bundts Across America” cookbook.
How to Enter:
To enter, participants must complete the official entry form found at select retailers nationwide and at www.nordicware.com. The entry packet must include a detailed, original Bundt cake recipe (including ingredients, exact measures, preparation instructions, garnishes, type of pan and baking time and temperature) typed on a separate sheet of paper. Entries must also include a picture of individual Bundt creations, along with an essay of 50 words or less outlining why your Bundt best represents the home state of the entrant. No entries will be accepted prior to May 1, 2006. All entries must be postmarked by September 1, 2006.
