LOS ANGELES, August 2, 2006 — ARP Productions, AIDS Responsibility Project (ARP) along with XL Productionz will launch its “Start the Conversation” initiative at the International AIDS Conference in Toronto. A private listening party with live performances and a celebrity gift lounge will celebrate the release of a 12-track CD entitled “What Are We Living For”. The compilation CD will feature songs written and performed by the group AWHARE, an array of talented young artists from hip hop to R&B. The event will take place at Toronto’s newest and most vibrant club, Purgatory in a room called “Heaven”, located at 199 Richmond Street, Toronto, from 9-11pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2006.

The purpose of What Are We Living For is to “Start the Conversation” about HIV – how to avoid it, how to live with it, how not to spread it, and the importance of being honest about one’s own risk of becoming infected. ARP has partnered with platinum-record producer Donald “XL” Robertson to use music, film, and the Internet to develop new and more effective ways to communicate prevention messages to those most at risk for becoming infected with HIV.

Fact: African-Americans have been disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS since the start of the epidemic. Today African American teens ages 13-19 and African American woman ages 25-34 account for the more than 50% of the population living with HIV/AIDS, making them the highest percentage infected of any ethnic group.
