Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – As a first time published author, Gary Dale Cearley, did not expect the attention that he is getting right now.

“I have had people who I haven’t seen in years contacting me out of the blue,” said Cearley, Vietnam’s best known expatriate author, “I didn’t expect to have the attention that I am getting from this book, mainly because I didn’t realize it would be interesting to a broad range of people. Apparently it is. I just keep scratching my head over it.”

Gary Dale Cearley’s recently published book, which is entitled “Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness: The Truth about the Vatican and the Birth of Islam”, is catching the attention of history buffs and people who are generally interested in religion as well, especially those with an interest in the history of the early Christian Church and of early Islam. The book is a refutation of the Vatican Islam Conspiracy which has been promoted by Jack Chick for many years. “I wrote this book because I didn’t appreciate the continuing and persistent lie that Jack Chick and Alberto Rivera had spread,” said Cearley, “This bogus story began taking a life of its own in certain Evangelical communities and the next thing you know, with the growth of the internet, the story is sadly being propagated by conspiracy theorists like David Icke and neo-Nazi groups. The whole thing is unhealthy.”

Gary Dale has been contacted already by people who have already bought his book in places as diverse and as far off as Australia and New Zealand as well as people who have ordered the book in Indonesia, Singapore, Canada, Cambodia, Belgium, Thailand and the United Kingdom. Cearley has taken several orders in Vietnam, where he lives full time.

But for an author who is basically self-published and started out without any real marketing budget, who has a very low publishing industry profile and is someone who does not even live in the United States anymore, his new book is getting some notice in some very interesting places.

One Amazon.co.uk reviewer in the United Kingdom, Wilson M.N. Barnsworth-Smith, had this to say about Cearley’s work:

“This represents (quite possibly) the most cutting edge research in to the Chick Conspiracy Theory to date. While many in the UK may be unfamiliar with the exploits of Jack Chick and his religious tracts, he has been muck raking for decades and has a string of controversial claims to his name - the most prominent being the theory that the Catholic Church created Islam. After reading this work in a matter of one hour and sixteen minutes (because I couldn't take my eyes off it) I asked myself, `where has this Cearley chap been hiding'? This is a ripping tale of Chinese whispers and crackpot innuendo from the lunatic fringe.”

At Amazon.ca, the Canadian version of Amazon.com, the following customer review was posted:

“This is what I was looking for…

“If you are unfamiliar with the Chick Tract phenomenon then this book will be an eye op
