Anaheim , CA -- Major League Ballhawk, John Witt, is closing in on catching his 2,800th baseball at a Major League Baseball game. Witt currently is at 2,792 baseballs caught at Major League Baseball games and 4,801 baseballs caught at professional baseball games since 1977.

"I caught my first baseball at a White Sox game in Old Comiskey Park in 1977", Witt said and then added , "it would be awesome to get # 2,800 at Anaheim when the White Sox come in next week!"

Witt is also looking to catch a game Home Run ball during this series. If Witt catches a game Home Run ball it would be the 100 th Home Run ball he has caught in his 29 year "Ballhawking" career.

Some of Witt's more memorable HR catches were, Bob Boones 100th career HR, Dante Bichette's 1st ML HR, Dave Winfield's 450th career HR all caught at the Big A. He also got the last Roof Top Home Run ball hit at old Comiskey Park in 1990 as well as Sammy Sosa's 61 st Home Run in 1998.

When asked how he has kept track of all the balls he has caught Witt replied, "I used to get the pocket schedules and write the number of balls I caught on the date I went to the game!" A couple of years ago he was at his mom's and compiled the totals and has added to them since then!

He also added that it helps now being able to write in his MLBlog about each game that he goes to.
